
Duprat, who after studying caddisflies and the way they build protective cases/tubes out of their silk and other natural sediments (i.e. rocks, dirt, twigs), had the idea of putting these insects in his own controlled environment. For one of his exhibitions, he had them placed inside of an aquarium filled with various precious stones and gold flakes, and this was the result. There are several websites you could look into, but this blog had information about both caddisflies and Duprat, plus there are more photos. I was absolutely amazed.
